MIGHTY WARRIORS strikers Rutendo Makore and Erina Jeke have recovered from injuries that kept them out of the African Women Championships first round first leg qualifier away in Botswana two weeks ago, and are available for the decisive return leg set for Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

Makore was out due to a knee problem, while Jeke was struggling with her back.

However, coach Rosemary Mugadza yesterday said the two have been training with the rest of the squad since last week when the team arrived back home from Botswana.

“They have recovered and they are training with the rest of the team, so if they impress they will be selected. I am happy that they are back, as it gives me options upfront. Their availability also increases competition in the team, which is good,” said Mugadza.

“I have three sets of strikers in camp and out of the six players, four make the final squad,” she added.

The other strikers in the squad are Rudo Neshamba, Violet Bepete, Kudakwashe Bhasopo and Talent Mbepo. Neshamba and Bepete started the match in Botswana before the former was replaced by Bhasopo in the second half.

Zimbabwe carries a slender 1-0 lead from the first leg, a goal which was scored by Bepete.

“The first leg was a difficult match, but we managed to get an away goal. We are hoping to carry on from there and finish them off. I have no doubt in my mind that we will win on Sunday. The players know what is expected of them and I am confident that they will deliver,” said Mugadza.
