BASSIST Spencer Khumbulani will bring back the glory days of Utakataka Express, band manager said at the weekend OWN CORRESPONDENT

“It is so encouraging that Spencer is being appreciated and we want to thank our fans for that support,” Dube said.

“When we brought him back it was not that we had no faith in our bassist, but it was a way of beefing up our band.

“Just like a football team when it acquires a player, it does not mean players already in that team would have failed.”

Khumulani had parted ways with the Peter Moyo-led band in 2011 to join Energy Mutodi. Meanwhile, Utakataka Express and Extra Kwazvose continued to cement their relationship with the Saturday show. The two bands have been on the receiving end of lambasting by critics who have labelled them mediocre. But the two appear to be preparing a shocker if their performance on the day is anything to go by.

Extra Kwazvose brought the house down after they played Rukudzo and Sando among others, off their fourth coming album.

Fans cheered as the band’s nimble-footed dancer and vocalist Franco Slomo (real name Francis Dhaka) took to the stage, showcasing what he knows best.
