Chipeta arrived in the country from South Africa on Tuesday night and is expected to re-join Hwange today. His manager Gibson Mahachi yesterday confirmed that the defender had impressed AmaTuks and what is left is for the South African side to table an offer to the coalminers.

“They liked him; we are discussing now. But they have to formally put an offer to Hwange and whatever might happen will be for June, but the deal has to be finalised as soon as possible,” Mahachi said.

The South African Football Association (Safa) mid season transfer window closed on January 31.

Chipeta spoke to our Bulawayo Bureau  from Harare and said all had gone well in South Africa.

“It was all good, more of familiarisation and I am now expecting to hear from them, but meanwhile I am going back to my club Hwange tomorrow (today),” Chipeta said.

The Chipangano hardman, who joined the coalminers from Northern Region Division One side DStv Rangers last year, returned to South Africa last week soon arriving back from the African Nations Championships (Chan) tournament, where he caught the eye of AmaTuks’ scouts.

Hwange secretary Burzil Dube confirmed that Chipeta was in South Africa with University of Pretoria and said they were expecting him back in the country on Monday.

Dube said they were yet to hear from the South African side regarding the player.

Chipeta has been on the wish lists of a couple of local clubs that include big guns Highlanders, Dynamos and FC Platinum after playing an instrumental role for Hwange, who survived relegation by a whisker last year.

At AmaTuks, he is likely to be joining former Warriors goalkeeper Washington Arubi and nomadic former Highlanders and Bantu Rovers striker Obadiah Tarumbwa.
