PUBLIC Service Minister Nicholas Goche yesterday admitted before Parliament that management at the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) had made some imprudent investments using public funds.

Goche made the admission while responding to Bikita West MP Munyaradzi Kereke and Mutasa South MP Irene Zindi, who wanted the minister to explain government policy on imprudent and reckless $100 million investments by NSSA and what government was going to do to ensure similar abuses did not recur.
“We have received a report on NSSA, the ministry is studying it and we shall make a statement on what measures have been taken to ensure there is recovery of the money invested in a manner that will show prudency,” Goche said. “We will ensure such imprudent investment of public funds is not repeated because I had a report from the authority about investments put in various banks, and I questioned why they were making investments in all banks,” he said.
Transport minister Obert Mpofu assured passengers that they should not be scared to use the national carrier Air Zimbabwe as it was fully insured as required by the International Air Transport Association.
Buhera South MP Joseph Chinotimba demanded answers from the Local Government ministry on why there was segregation in rehabilitation of potholes.
Chinotimba alleged that roads in leafy suburbs were getting preferential treatment at the expense of high-density suburbs.
