SUSPENDED EasiPark Harare administration and finance manager Gadzamoyo Dewah has claimed that he was being victimised for refusing to sign company documents to approve a suspected fraudulent $40 000 severance package for the company’s former general manager Pergius Dube.

Dewah was suspended for allegedly taking the company vehicle away without clearance.
In his defence outline presented by labour lawyer Munyaradzi Gwisai during a hearing held on February 5, Dewa said signing an RTGS of $40 000 for Pergius Dube, who was entitled to $25 000, would have been criminal, which was why he refused.
Dube, who represented the interests of EasiPark in the joint venture deal with Harare City Council, had been dismissed from his job for fraud after allegedly embezzling over $1 million.
“Respondent (Dewah) avers that he refused to sign a patently unlawful and unreasonable order to sign an RTGS for a severance package worth over $40 000 for Mr P Dube. To do so would have amounted to condoning a patently wrong (decision) inconsistent with his job description and his moral conscience,” Gwisai said.
He argued that his client was aware that he was supposed to pay Dube just $25 000 and there were no resolutions or minutes from the management committee as required by the joint venture agreement to support the $40 000 claim.
Gwisai also refuted claims that Dewah failed to surrender a pool vehicle on two occasions when he went on leave because the order to leave the vehicle behind was unlawful.
