ZIMBABWE’S leading junior tennis players, Nicole Dzenga and Courtney Lock, made significant strides on the continental and world rankings ladder after putting on a commendable display at the ITF Africa Closed Junior 18 and Under Championship in Morocco.

According to the Confederation of African Tennis and ITF Junior World rankings released yesterday, Lock and Dzenga’s performances saw them rise to their career-best rankings.
Lock (17) is now ranked the seventh best Under-18 player on the continent after jumping 48 places on the ITF Junior World rankings to a career high position 225. Lock reached the quarter-finals and semi-finals in the singles and doubles competition respectively at the African Junior Championships in Morocco.
On the girls’ Under-18 rankings, Dzenga jumped 10 places on the ITF Junior World rankings to position 249 and ninth in Africa. She only reached the third round Africa Closed Junior 18 and Under Championship in Morocco, but won the singles title at the Nairobi International Junior Championships.
