DYNAMOS have resumed preparations for the AS Vita Caf Champions League first round, first leg football match set for the National Sports Stadium on Saturday as a gigantic clash against the Phefeni Glamour Boys (Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa) looms.
SPORTS REPORTER
Should Dynamos sail past AS Vita and Chiefs beat Liga Muculmana of Mozambique, then the stage will be set for the biggest Limpopo Club Derby in the second round with the winners qualifying for the money-spinning mini-league phase.
Contrary to media reports on Monday that Dynamos had been hit by injuries, the key quartet of Ronald Chitiyo, Tawanda Muparati, Masimba Mambare and Walter Mukanga had been rested after playing against Mochudi Centre Chiefs in Botswana last Sunday and DC Academy on Thursday.
The four were then allowed to rest for the Saturday friendly against Buffaloes in Mutare, which Dynamos won 1-0.
Muparati confirmed to this paper on Monday that none of the players had been injured, but were just rested.
Dynamos, who beat Mochudi 4-1 on aggregate, are already rubbing their hands in glee with the anticipated return of star midfielder Devon Chafa, whose six-month Fifa ban for using a prohibited substance ends on Friday and is due to resume training.
He will not be available for the Saturday match, but he could mark his return the following weekend in the return leg in Lubumbashi as Dynamos, under Kalisto Pasuwa, will be seeking to finally win away from home — something they have failed to do in the last three seasons.
