In a statement, the party said although investigations were still in progress, the Budiriro councillor allegedly attempted to sodomise a bus driver aboard a houseboat on Lake Kariba on Saturday following a training session and retreat in the resort town.

MDC-T said the alleged offence took place in the middle of the night on Saturday.

“The MDC wishes to make it clear that it does not tolerate any immoral behaviour on the part of its officials. The councillor will be formally charged by the party and will be brought before the party’s disciplinary committee for a hearing soon,” the party said.

Chirombe could not be reached for comment last night.
