The development has come following allegations of misconduct which are not in line with Christianity, tarnishing the image of the choir. Speaking to NewsDay, Zimpraise chief executive Joseph Madziire said the workshop would also include spiritual and etiquette training.

“As the choir becomes bigger, we have constantly identified amazing talent, with some that do not have the right attitude.

“I have come to realise that it is important for us to help train musicians and worshippers from just being incredible vocalists and instrumentalists, but also to become individuals with the true character and attitude to match the God-given gift,” Madziire said.

According to Madziire, this process is not meant to make it difficult to become a Zimpraise choir member.

He said this process is meant to ensure that these young people fulfil their mission to become true worship leaders that have a Godly character.

“There is the spiritual aspect which every worship leader must carry and for such a reason, Zimpraise will be giving up to 100 scholarships through the Zimpraise Academy and Institute.

“Our academy will run workshops for six months till July when the participants will graduate with certificates of attendance,” Madziire said.

During the six months, the 100 participants will be trained to become masters in music and they will leave the training not only artistically skilled, but also as spirit-filled Christians with the right attitude and character.

“Among the successful 100 members is where we will choose new choir members that will join us for tours and shows for the second half of the year. These new members will also be part of our 2014 live DVD recording in July.”
