This emerged when Nosizi Muchimba (21) appeared before Binga resident magistrate Stephen Ndlovu to answer to an assault charge.

Muchimba pleaded guilty to the charge and told the court that she had been angered by her husband’s habit of denying her conjugal rights by always sleeping with Tracy Muleya (24) and when she confronted her husband about it the senior wife intervened triggering her rage.

Ndlovu remanded Muchimba to January 31 for sentencing.

The court heard that on November 17 last year, the two wives had a quarrel over a cloth used to cover a radio that degenerated into a fight. Muchimba bit Muleya’s left middle finger and almost severed it during the fight.

When asked why she bit Muleya, Muchimba retorted that the fight was all about conjugal rights.

“I’m not getting conjugal rights from our husband as he spends most of his time with her,” Muchimba said.

“When I complained to our husband about it, Muleya was against my complaints and that is what caused the fight.”

Muchimba alleged that Muleya started biting her during the fight and she had bit her finger in retaliation, but the State indicated that Muleya had no front row teeth.

According to the medical report, the injury was so bad that there were high possibilities of Muleya’s finger being amputated.
