AFRO-fusion group Mokoomba were at the weekend forced to perform twice at the Alliance Francaise in Harare after their initial show on Friday got over subscribed. The group ended up performing on Saturday as their growing fan-base made sure that the show was fully booked.

In an interview with NewsDay, Mokoomba manager Marcus Gora said they had to give fans what they wanted.
“We just could not disappoint our fans who have greatly supported us all along so we had to book another show which, to my surprise, was also sold out,” he said. On the first night many people were turned away at the gate as they had not seen the Facebook posts saying the show had been oversubscribed.
Halfway through the show some could be seen trying to peep through the crowded entrance while others just retired to have drinks and snacks outside listening to the afro-fusion sounds.
Reveller Tatenda Mudarikwa said the group should next time use a bigger venue.
“We all love Mokoomba, it is one of a few groups at whose shows you find a multi-racial audience in attendance so next time they should know we always come and organise a bigger venue,” she said.
Meanwhile, the group left fans up on their feet throughout both shows as they sampled their new acoustic set.
