The former Shabanie Mine head coach secretly signed a one-year contract last month in Mutare and is set to resume his duties at the army side today.

The outspoken gaffer is expected to assemble his team in the upcoming few weeks to beef up the squad that has already lost the services of Themba Ndlovu to Dynamos and Wonder Sithole to How Mine respectively.

In an interview with NewsDay Sport on Wednesday, Masomere said he was banking on the support of Mutare football fans.

“I can confirm that I’m now at Buffaloes. I had offers from three clubs, but my heart was at Buffaloes. My first target is to assess the current squad, but I believe I will be already under pressure to produce results from the very beginning,” he said.

“Generally, I am looking forward to build a competitive side that will have a good run in the Premiership. But at the moment, it’s not nice to be to be talkative on how I’m going to build my team, people shall see on the field of play,” he added.

Buffaloes spokesperson Tendai Chitowa said they were hoping for a better season with Masomere.

“He is a good coach and we are expecting a good year with him. Timothy ‘Sicho’ Masachi will be one of his assistants,” Chitowa said.

Buffaloes were almost relegated last season where they ended in 12th position with 39 points.
