PASTOR Charles Charamba has labelled his performance today at Chitungwiza Acquatic Complex as an honour.

Charamba is performing together with his wife Olivia at their first gig of the year in his home town Chitungwiza and yesterday he told NewsDay he was eagerly awaiting for the show.

“It is an honour and of course an obligation for me to go back to Chitungwiza,” Charamba said.

“Chitungwiza is home, we may fly to the East or West, but we would be failures if we do not go back home.”

He said that performing at the venue on the first day of the year actually made it a better affair.

“In our culture, you mark the year in the vicinity of your home,” Charamba said.

The musician suffered a blow earlier this month when a pirated CD started selling on the streets under his name.

He, however, said he would not comment on the issue as he was yet to receive feedback from the people who are handling the issue.

The album, Zvakagara Zvakadaro, done by Tonderai Bande and produced by Lyton Ngolomi, caused commotion on the market as the singer sounds much like Charamba. But Charamba said his new project was still being worked on.

“It is still in the pipeline, but we are yet to have a date for the release,” he said.

“We are still not sure but it is likely that the album will be a collaborated package from the Charamba family.”
