Caps United sign Zimunya

CAPS United have secured the services of Pervington Zimunya, with the former Shabanie and Masvingo United striker expected to complete his move to Harare this week.

United coach Taurai Mangwiro yesterday revealed Zimunya has agreed to join the club, and is set to become the Green Machine’s first signing this term as the Harare giants seek to regain lost glory in the upcoming season.

“We have entered into negotiations with Pervington and he has agreed tentatively. He should sign anytime soon,” said Mangwiro.

If he signs as hugely expected, Zimunya will fight for the forward position with the likes of Dominic Chungwa and Leonard Fiyado.

Tawanda Nyamandwe, who was the club’s main striker last season is rumoured to be angling a move out to join a fellow premier league side.

Mangwiro said he will not stand in the way of players who wanted to leave, stating that he would only work with “those who are fully committed to the club’s cause”.

Defender Gorge Magariro has already left for How Mine after the expiry of his contract at the end of the year while midfielders Tawanda Munyanduri and David Redhiyoni are also on their way out after being spotted at newly promoted ZPC Kariba recently.

Mangwiro said “the two players’ behaviour will not be tolerated,” and are likely to be axed from the squad.

“I would not want to bring many new players this year. Our main concern is to try and retain most of our players from last season. We have engaged most of them and the situation is encouraging as many of them have agreed to return for next season,” said Mangwiro.

“I am very disappointed with the two (Munyanduri and Redhiyoni) because I had spoken to them and they agreed that they will be with the club next season. But the next thing I hear is that they are in Kariba. I don’t expect such kind of behaviour from my players and that will not be tolerated. I want to work with people who are committed to the club’s cause, those who believe in what we want to achieve as a team,” added Mangwiro.
