Although Allan said the gesture was a way of blessing his son who has been leading his Orchestra Dendera Kings for over a year after his father’s departure to nephew Sulumani’s band, rumour has it the two could be re-uniting.
Speaking to NewsDay on the sidelines of the show, Allan refuted the claims and said he wanted to bring more confidence and show his son that he fully supports his talent. “As you know that blessings always come from parents so as Douglas commences his shows this year I decided to join him on stage as a way of showing my support and appreciation of what he is doing on the music scene,” said Allan.
“I am going to do the same gesture for Sulumani and Tryson showing my fatherly role to them all.”
Meanwhile, their joint performance brought the house down when they gave a top- notch performance taking revellers down memory lane with some of the late Simon’s songs like Magobo and One Way among others.
Douglas effortlessly reproduced his uncle’s dance routines that drove revellers into frenzy as they sang and danced along.
After each song he did not leave out Sulu’s popular “thank you so much” catch phrase which seemed to stir so much excitement in the audience.
