The festival, which runs as a countdown to the New Year, will have different music shows celebrating the year’s achievements.

In an interview with NewsDay, event coordinator and public relations officer for Varsity Blues Promotions Tavonga Mafundikwa said the festival would have weekly shows featuring various musicians at the same venue.

“We have five shows lined up to run every weekend of December starting this Saturday with artistes such as Shinsoman, Audius Mtawarira and Chikwata 263 performing,” he said.

Mafundikwa said the following events would take place on December 14, 20 and 28 at Harare Gardens leading to the grand finale which will take place at First Street on New Year’s Eve.

“For all the shows we have selected artistes from different walks of life with the aim of uniting the people of Harare to come together and celebrate the festive season in such an amazing showcase,” he said.

He added that all shows would also be fashioned with a display of fireworks and that the Countdown Harare Festival was meant to celebrate people’s year-round achievements.

Mafundikwa said they were also urging corporates to also come together and celebrate what they had achieved throughout the year while celebrating life and the good that will come with forthcoming season.

“It is amazing how people are already embracing the festival, our tickets are selling very well and considering the fact that they cost $10, it has been a positive indicator for what will most likely be a successful gathering,” he said.

The Harare Countdown Festival will be an annual end-of-year event.
