DYNAMOS coach Kalisto Pasuwa has retained basically his entire squad after drawing up a list of 19 players to be registered for the African Champions League in the first batch while he pursues five others including Tafadzwa Rusike.

Rusike, one of the most creative midfielders in this country has always been a long time target for DeMbare since he was released by Ajax Cape Town.

He has been out of contract since leaving the South African club and should he seal his move to the Zimbabwe champions as is highly likely because of the lure of the Champions League he will be their biggest acquisition so far.

NewsDay Sport can reveal that Pasuwa is also interested in Triangle midfielder Walter Mukanga. Mukanga has been one of the top performers for Triangle since his acquisition from Plumtree Chiefs in the middle of the season and he has been offered a chance to prove himself on a grand occasion.

The Dynamos gaffer is also targeting Highlanders marksman Milton Ncube and has also not given up on FC Platinum striker Donald Ngoma and Shabanie Mine’s Nelson Maziwisa.

Ngoma has been offered a contract extension by Platinum while Maziwisa, whose offer is also on the table, is wanted by Highlanders.  Bantu Rovers forward Kudakwashe Mahachi is also still in their plans.

Hwange defender Eric Chipeta, who has been linked with a  move back to Harare, is not featuring in the list and is already in South Africa trying his luck at Lamontville Golden Arrows.

But from the squad that will be registered by Sunday — there is no place for combative midfielder Devon Chafa and winger Russel Madamombe as the Dynamos hierarchy is still waiting to finalise with the players’ manager Gibson Mahachi who is reported to be out of the country at the moment.

The two players saw out their contract with Dynamos this season and negotiations for contract extensions have already begun, but the Harare giants are unwilling to register players without proof of interest in joining them ahead of the start of the Champions League campaign.

Even their targets are required to come for medicals as proof of their interest to join the Glamour Boys.

But the list of players to be registered by Sunday released by Dynamos secretary-general Webster Chikengezha yesterday has familiar faces with the pair of former Monomotapa midfielder Ronald Chitiyo and Buffaloes midfielder Themba Ndlovu being the only new faces in the squad compiled by Pasuwa.

Chafa — a key member of the team was banned from football by world soccer governing body, Fifa for testing positive for a prohibited substance, but will make a return in February next year just in time for the African Champions League campaign.

The targeted players are set to be registered in the second batch by the December 31 deadline.
