The gig, organised by Simmad Promotions, will also see young Dendera musician Douglas Chimbetu adding flavour with his unmistakable act. Today’s show will be the superstar’s last before he returns to the country for a show on April 4.

Speaking to NewsDay, event organiser Simba Madziwa said all was set for the gig and urged fans to come in their numbers for the shutdown gig.

“We are expecting fireworks at the show as we bid farewell to the superstar Oliver Mtukudzi while at the same time we will be welcoming 2014,” he said.

Mtukudzi and Jah Prayzah, who are currently on top of their game, will be out to give their legions of fans value for their money especially foreign-based holidaymakers who are in the country for the festive spell.

The duo’s working relationship continues to grow from the time they did a duet titled Sisiriya off Jah Prayazh’s album Tsviriyo which has seen them staging several shows together.

Jah Prayzah has on record equated his working relationship with Mtukudzi as that of father and son. Judging from their previous shows, there are no doubts that fans would be kept on the dancefloor all night long with the duo earning rave reviews from local revellers.

On the other hand, hopes are high that Chimbetu, who is also enjoying a purple patch that has seen him being included in many super gigs over the last few months, delivers to expectation.

For him, sharing the stage with Tuku and Jah Prayzah means performing before a huge crowd that will require him to be at his best.

Since he took over the band from his father Allan, the musician has so far shown a high level of creativity with outstanding stage work. He, however, is still faced with a mammoth task as he is often compared to his cousins Sulumani and Tryson who have been performing exceedingly well.
