The restructuring exercise — to take effect from January 1 2014 — sees the appointment of Rita Chinyoka as Publisher and Kangai Maukazuva as chief operating officer.

Prior to the new appointment, Rita Chinyoka was AMH commercial director, a position she assumed last year, having joined the group from Edgars where she was brand executive.

Kangai Maukazuva is being elevated from his current position of chief technology officer.

AMH has also appointed Thembe Khumalo to the new position of general manager, events and conferencing.

She is the outgoing General Manager of AMH subsidiary Munn Marketing. Zita Matonda has recently been appointed group financial director having joined from National Foods. Vincent Kahiya is Editor-in-Chief. Commenting on the changes, AMH chairman Trevor Ncube said: “ The changes follow a robust turnaround strategy that management has put in place and approved by the board and shareholders.”

He added: “Shareholders are injecting fresh capital in the business as part of the turnaround strategy.”

AMH, the publisher of NewsDay, Southern Eye, The Standard and the Zimbabwe Independent, is owned 61% by Trevor Ncube through Vusumuzi Investments and 39% by Media Development Investment Fund.
