The launch is set for the Book Café with Afro-jazz sensation Diana Samkange and Rute Mbangwa headlining the show and Baba Shupi will grace the event as guest artist.

Organisers of the concert said they were optimistic the event, which will be a monthly one, will be a booster for both established and upcoming female musicians.

Speaking to NewsDay, Samkange, one of the most popular female voices in the country, said she would be out to prove her mettle in the music sector.

The musician has promised to churn out hits from her forthcoming album, adding that fireworks should be expected at the show.

“I just want to urge jazz fans to come in their numbers to support the performing acts. At the show where I will be performing various songs from my forthcoming offering that I am currently working on,” said Samkange.

The Kumagumo Erudo singer continues to push her career to greater heights and has been riding high since she changed from urban grooves to jazz.

Her combination with another jazz sensation Mbangwa, rated as one of the country’s gifted jazz artistes, will likely give jazz enthusiasts a rare treat at the show.

Mbangwa is not only a talented composer, but she is also gifted with a powerful voice.

Jazz music in the country is still regarded as a genre for the mature and still remains an exclusive, looking at the number of musicians who have done extremely well in the sector.
