MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai yesterday said the death of his security director Benson Muchineuta had left him exposed.

Addressing mourners at the Muchineuta family home in Highfield, Harare, Tsvangirai said: “The Muchineuta family may think that it has lost, but I am the one who has lost more.
“I am exposed. Okollo (Muchineuta’s nickname) was the one in charge of my security. He was known all over as a brave man. When we formed the MDC, a lot of people asked him where he got the courage to dice with death, but he never looked back,” Tsvangirai said.
Muchineuta was among a few lieutenants seconded to provide personal security to Tsvangirai at the formation of the party in 1999. He later took over as director of security following the departure of former Zvishavane MP Pearson Mbalekwa after the party’s crushing defeat by Zanu PF in the July 31 polls.
The MDC-T chief security officer died on Monday at 44 after a short illness. He is set to be buried at his rural home in Kondo village, Buhera, tomorrow.
