To add depth and variety to reggae and dancehall, artistes should highly consider forming live bands.

He said this in the run-up to the Zim’s Biggest Reggae Dancehall Bands Festival scheduled for Cresta Lodge Gardens today.

The live band festival will be courtesy of Cresta hotels and the Red Fox family in association with SOD Entertainment.

“Given the rise in the number of performers in the genre in recent years, I felt exposure to live entertainment needs to be highlighted as it is an overlooked integral element of the true artistic talent that we have in the country,” he said.

The first of its kind, the show will feature a total of 15 bands including popular musicians, Freeman, King Shaddy and Guspy Warrior amongst others who will perform with live bands. Other top reggae and dancehall artistes that will play at the fiesta include Sniper Storm, Mic Inity, Mannex, Dhadza D and Nadine “Fire Lady” Brown.

On the turntables, Judgment Yard, Legendary Sound and Red Fox Sound will take turns to entertain the revellers. Local reggae and dancehall music fans can look out for an enjoyable show as most of the popular artistes in the genre will be performing at this first ever event.
