FORMER Big Brother Africa winner Wendall Parson’s insurance fraud trial yesterday failed to resume as scheduled after it was postponed to October 16 following reports prosecutor Constance Ngombengombe was attending a funeral.

SENIOR REPORTER

Wendall, together with his brother William, are on trial after allegedly attempting to fraudulently access insurance payout for Wendall’s vehicle following an accident that occurred while William was driving the car.

Before the matter was remanded by presiding magistrate Elijah Makomo, the State had indicated that it was going to bring another witness, Detective Inspector Moses Mukwesha, to testify.

Defence counsel Harrison Nkomo had, however, protested the move, arguing that Mukwesha had not been lined up to testify before trial and the move was in contravention of the Crimial Procedure and Evidence Act.

He argued that the move was tantamount to an “ambush”.
