The 21-year-old standout golfer, who is on a scholarship at Virginia Tech University finished with back-to-back rounds of four-under-par 68 after having opened his campaign with a sparkling five-under 67 on Friday to secure medalist honors with a total of 13-under-par 203.

Vincent, who has risen to a respectable 34th on the Men’s World Amateur Golf rankings, defeated Thomas Birdsey of Wake Forest and Denny McCarthy of the University of Virginia by two strokes.

The former St John’s College young star, who was recently named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golfer of the Month for September, has now won three of the four events the team has played this season.

Prior to this weekend’s win the Chapman Golf Club prodigy won two tournaments in consecutive weeks last month, first at the Golfweek Conference Challenge (September 15-17) and the VCU Shootout (September 23-24) a week later.

Vincent, who is nicknamed “Mhondoro” on the local golf circuit because of his exploits on the golf course finished fourth in the only event he did not win. His impressive display helped Virginia Tech University (21-under-par 843) finish in second place in the team competition, one stroke behind the University of Virginia.

Tech shot a four-under-par 284 on Friday and followed with a 6-under-par 282 on Saturday before closing with an 11-under-par 277 on Sunday to finish with the 843.

The Tennessee Intercollegiate tournament was played at the par 72, 7,147-yard Blackthorn Club at The Ridges in Johnson City, Tennessee.

The event once again attracted an outstanding field of golfers on the US Collegiate circuit.

Half of the 14 teams who took part are ranked in the top 50 of the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings, led by the number 13 ranked Virginia Tech University.

Vincent will be hoping to finish the first part of the season schedule on a high when he returns to action at the UNCG Bridgestone Invitational at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina on October 26 and 27.
