The overall aim of this new partnership is to improve the professional performance and the financial conditions of arts management, production and showcasing by a selected group of arts organisations and individuals.

The specific objective is to help sustain Zimbabwean arts and culture by increasing the opportunities and visibility of local cultural actors producing good art.

“Zimbabwe has such a rich and diverse cultural expression that it is a great pleasure to partner with the Culture Fund to promote the sector in-country and abroad,” Ambassador Aldo dell’Ariccia, head of the EU Delegation to Zimbabwe, said.

Executive director of the Culture Fund Farai Mpfunya reiterated that the new partnership programme with the EU presented new opportunities for cultural engagement and much-needed support to the further development of the Zimbabwean arts and culture sector.

The partnership involved the EU extending a direct grant of 500 000 euro to arts and culture development over a period of two years.

This partnership programme is co-funded by the Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency.

The Culture Fund and the EU identified potential associates involved in exciting and challenging work under one or more of the Culture Fund’s 10 key programme result areas. These associates were selected from applications sent either directly to the Culture Fund, or through the EU delegation in Harare.
