Shabanie Mine had to use the Rufaro boardroom just below the upper grandstand as their dressing room after City denied them keys to the visitors changing room and in the process riling Shabanie coach Luke Masomere.

Pervington Zimunya’s 51st minute headed goal cancelled Nathan Ziwini’s early strike for Harare City as the capital city club dropped two points and slid down to third spot where they were dislodged by Highlanders who edged FC Platinum 2-1 in Bulawayo.

Gaining only a point, Bigboy Mawiwi’s City now have 40 points, the same as Highlanders but were hard done by an inferior goal-difference.

“We lost two crucial points and that is bad at this stage of the league race,” said an apparently dejected Mawiwi.

Shabanie Mine remained unmoved in ninth position.

“Despite what happened before the match the boys kept focused and we managed to gain a point away from home. The match, however, did not, live up to its billing because Harare City are fighting for the league title and we are fighting relegation,” said Masomere.

Ziwini fired home a grounder just inside the penalty area, benefiting from a Silas Songani cross that Godfrey Nguwodzawo had failed to direct at goal six minutes into the match.

Zimunya nearly gave Shabanie the lead with a free kick sailing into the top corner to force a good save from Maxwell Nyamupanedengu five minutes from tine.
