News yesterday was that Chafa had been cleared, but the midfielder denied any knowledge of any communication from the world football governing body.

“I have not heard anything from anyone on that,” Chafa said, echoing the same message from his manager Gibson Mahachi and Dynamos vice-chairman Webster Chikengezha, who said maybe they would get the information today.

Zifa communications manager Xolisani Gwesela said: “We would like to inform the nation that Fifa communicates directly with its member associations. We would like to confirm that we have not received communication from Fifa on its decision on Devon Chafa’s doping case. Once we have communication, we will notify the player first. Our team doctor Nick Munyonga will then issue a public statement.”

Munyonga said last night: “We have not received any official communication from Fifa, it’s not on the website and we are not in a position to say anything on that, maybe tomorrow (today).

An email was also sent to Fifa last night, but there was no response by the time of going to print.

Yesterday, the world soccer governing body’s Disciplinary Committee sanctioned Moroccan international player Hamza Abourazzouk, who had been provisionally suspended in August for an anti-doping rule violation, following a doping test conducted after the match of the preliminary competition of the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil, played in Marrakech, Morocco, on June 8 2013.

“The player has been declared ineligible for a period of six months after testing positive for carboxy-THC — a substance included on WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency)’s 2013 Prohibited List under the class ‘S8. Cannabinoids’.

“By testing positive for a prohibited substance, the player has violated article 6 of the Fifa Anti-Doping Regulations. As such, he has contravened article 63 of the Fifa Disciplinary Code.

“The suspension period starts from 28 August 2013, the date from which the player was provisionally suspended by the chairman of the Disciplinary Committee. The suspension covers all types of matches, including domestic, international, friendly and official fixtures. The concerned party has been duly notified today (yesterday),” Fifa said in a statement on its website.
