THERE was drama at the Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday when a Zhombe man accused of housebreaking produced nude pictures of the complainant’s wife as proof that he was in love with the woman and was just a victim of a relationship gone sour.

Alouis Mutambo (43) of Hleke village under Chief Gwesela had been brought to court on three counts of unlawful entry, theft and malicious damage of property at complainant Sindele Masuku’s house.

The State had alleged that Mutambo broke into Masuku’s house on August 10 and stole a bag of clothes before torching a hut at the premises.

The stolen property was later found at Mutambo’s home, leading to his arrest.

However, in his defence Mutambo told the court that he was in love with Masuku’s wife, Beauty Farai, adding that she had agreed to elope to his house that same night.

“She then gave me the bag which I took to my house and waited for her to follow, but instead, the following morning, I saw police coming to arrest me saying I had stolen the bag,” he said in his defence.

Farai, however, denied being in a relationship with Mutambo accusing him of lying to cover his tracks.

Mutambo then produced the explicit pictures of Farai which he had captured with his mobile phone.

“I even had videos of us making love which unfortunately I deleted, but these pictures were taken on my bed after we had just finished having sex,” Mutambo told a visibly surprised Kwekwe provincial magistrate Taurai Manwere.

Manwere just had a glance of the pictures and handed the phone to the court orderly after Farai had admitted that indeed the pictures were hers.

Prosecutor Fiona Mkwena then withdrew all the charges levelled against Mutambo.
