THE Media Alliance of Zimbabwe will today hold a stakeholders’ policy conference to map a way forward for the media in the next five years.

The conference, to be held under the theme: Zimbabwe’s Media: The Next Five Years, Democratisation and Expansion, will discuss, among other issues, the new Constitution, freedom of expression, media regulatory framework, media laws and policy overview, media regulation provisions and the future of self-regulation in Zimbabwe.

University of Zimbabwe Political Science lecturer Eldred Masunungure and Zanu PF’s Psychology Maziwisa will debate the topic. They will also deal with the country’s political environment and do a review of the elections and prospects for the future.

European Union (EU) head of delegation to Zimbabwe Aldo Dell’Ariccia will talk on the EU’s position on support to the media sector in the post-election period.

The Sadc election observer mission to Zimbabwe has described the local media as highly polarised.

Media personnel including Chris Chinaka, Barnabas Thondhlana, Takura Zhangazha and Rashweat Mukundu among others, will make presentations on different topics.
