Chibuku Road to Fame roars in Manicaland

IT’S all systems go for the Chibuku Road to Fame Manicaland provincial finals set for Dangamvura Hotel in Mutare on Saturday.

A total of 10 groups will battle it out for honours and the winner will represent the province at the national finals in Harare on September 28.

Groups that are set to take part in the competition are Talent Falls Band, Orchestra Mazambuko, Kumapembe, Real Spears, Shining Stars Band, Nice to Nice band, Volcano Express, Mutare Polytechnic, Thunder Boys and Makomborero Sounds.

The winner will walk away with $1 000 and first runners-up will pocket $500, while second runners-up will get $300.

Chibuku Road to Fame contest is run by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) and Delta Beverages.

NACZ Manicaland provincial manager Jonah Muchayi told NewsDay they were expecting the competition to be tough, adding that they wanted to send a competitive provincial representative to the national finals.

“We want to send a competitive group that will represent our province well at the national finals,” Muchayi said.

“We have invited renowned artistes in the province in the form of Hosiah Chipanga, Juicer Mpostori and Blessing Shumba, among others, to grace the contest to make it an exciting event. We are inviting people to come and witness emerging talent in Manicaland at the event.”
