Erakovic and Black made a bright start to their third round match against second seeded Russian duo Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina.

They took out the first set 7-5 in a 61 minute duel, but then dropped the next two sets 6-2 6-4.

Erakovic and Black beat Spain’s Lourdes Dominguez and Israel’s Shahar Peer 6-4 7-6 in the opening round then the pairing of Varvara Lepchenko (Unites States) and Saisai Zheng (China) 6-1 7-6 in the second.

Makarova and Vesnina were the French Open women’s doubles champions and had not dropped a set in their first two matches.

Makarova had earlier been beaten by China’s Li Na in the women’s singles quarter final 6-4 6-7 (5), 6-2.

The Russians advance on to the fourth round to play Australian eighth seeds Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua.
