The Council of African Apostles (CAA) has spoken strongly against attacks in Kenya and Pakistan and today, I feature their statement.

Sermon of the week with Pastor Erasmus Makarimayi

Many times the church creates a void when it is their voice that the world will be banking on.

This voice is timeous. CAA is a very respected and authoritative Christian voice from the African continent.

The statement reads: The recent unwarranted terrorist attacks on citizens in a shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya and worshippers in Christian churches in Pakistan are deplorable acts of violence that have no basis or justification.

We, the Council of African Apostles, strongly condemn these attacks in the strongest possible means. As a body of believers, we uphold and recommit to the principle of diversity, but that diversity cannot lead to divergence that overtakes the sanctity of human life.

We strongly advocate for peaceful solutions to immediately end this violence that has claimed many innocent lives with no stake in whatever issues are under contestation.

The unnecessary loss of Christian lives in Pakistan and lives in Nairobi is not only deplorable, but cannot be tolerated in the global community.

We think such methods of butchering innocent lives are cowardly and only serve to heighten tension and conflict.

As Apostles, we are motivated by God’s call to peace, personal integrity, righteous governance, accountability and goodness. We believe in a God who guarantees dignity for all people.

These recent attacks have placed a dark cloud over Christians and Africans alike, deeply wounding the conscience of those who uphold human life and also leading to a deterioration of public trust and tolerance of different opinions.

It is our expectation that the perpetrators of these crimes will face the full extent of governing laws and that there be swift justice for the affected. We urge the United Nations, the African Union, national governments and other relevant institutions to demonstrate visible leadership in ensuring that justice is served by bringing the perpetrators to book and also taking necessary precautions to restore law and order in the affected regions.

We extend our deepest and most sincere condolences to the families who lost loved ones and assure them of our continued prayers that our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ would be their Comfort in this time of questioning, grief and loss.

We prayerfully stand with you for the healing of your hearts. May the God of Heaven continue to look kindly upon Africa and give grace to us all.

l Today all roads will be leading to Africa Unity Square where Jesus For Africa Evangelistic Ministries (JFAEM) will be celebrating a decade of soul winning.

In a press statement JFAEM says: “A Zimbabwe Republic Police escorted procession will take place from Zimbabwe College Of Music grounds opposite Rainbow Towers starting at 8:30am ending at Africa Unity Square where main celebrations will immediately commence and end at 2pm.

“The procession route will take the following course: From Zimbabwe College Of Music into Jason Moyo, then into Mbuya Nehanda, then Nelson Mandela up to Africa Unity Square.

The celebrations will be punctuated by music, speeches and testimonies.

The guest of honour will be Professor Ezekiel Guti. Members from Evangelical Fellowship Of Zimbabwe, Heads Of Christian Denominations, various local pastoral fraternal groups and independent and individual church groups will be in attendance.

Distinguished local musicians will join the talented JFAEM choir in the celebrations.

The entire Christian community from the width and breadth of Zimbabwe will form part of this massive kingdom event.

Central and local government representatives will also grace the occasion.

The mayor of Harare will be in attendance.

Representatives of corporate bodies and organisations will also be present.”

In a statement to mark this momentous occasion, Evangelist Paul Saungweme had this to say: “Let us not forget that eternity is our destiny and when all is said and done, let us all be found in heaven. Whatever we seek in life and whatever message we look for, let us seek the Gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ who is our only way to heaven.”

Never miss an opportunity where the church is coming together. The impossibe becomes possible and the difficult becomes easy.

God says in Genesis 11:6: “And the Lord said, behold, the people is one and they have all one language and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.”

I have advised you, don’t be left out. You are going somewhere.
