JOHANNESBURG — Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has suggested referees are targeting Warriors midfielder Willard Katsande after the midfielder got his third booking of the season in Tuesday’s Soweto Derby.

Daniel Bennett cautioned the Zimbabwe international for an early challenge on Lennox Bacela in a MTN8 semi-final 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium.

In the latest Kick Off, Baxter stops short of stating Katsande is being victimised by the officials, but the Briton appears to have since altered his stance.

“With regards to Katsande I think people target him,” Baxter said. “I think the referees have got their eyes on him. His first tackle — was it a good one or a bad one? Was it worth a yellow card?

“I don’t condone it if it’s reckless in any way shape of form. But there were lots of tackles flying in the derby match probably warranting much more than a yellow card. I think it’s a shame.”
