THE four team invitational tournament which had been scheduled for Angola at the weekend has been postponed. The tournament will now be held next weekend from September 28- 29.

The Under-20 soccer team was scheduled to leave for Angola tomorrow, but the latest development has forced the cash strapped Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) to withdraw players from camp. The team had reported for camp on Tuesday.
Zifa Communications manager Xolisani Gwesela said they had received communication from the Angola football federation to the effect that the tournament had been postponed to next week.
“We have received communication from the Angola Football Association to the effect that the tournament has been postponed to next week. Therefore the team will break camp and resume preparations on Tuesday next week. We will be waiting for further communication from Angola on travel itinerary,” said Gwesela.
However, team manager Patrick Mutesva said it would have been ideal for the young boys to remain in camp ahead of the tournament.
“It would have been a good idea for the team to remain in camp because there are new players in the team and they need more time together to gel. There are very few players from the team that was supposed to play Angola the last time Zimbabwe failed to fulfill the fixture there. So it was an opportunity for the coaches to assess the new players we have,” said Mutesva.
The Young Warriors, who have been inactive for a long time, will be using the tournament as part of their preparations for the 2013 Under-20 Cosafa Cup to be hosted by Lesotho in December.

Besides Zimbabwe and Angola, the other teams that are taking part in the invitational tournament are Mozambique and either Zambia or the Equatorial Guinea.
