ZIYA Cultural Theatre Club, the group behind the hilarious drama Sabhuku Vharazipi is currently putting final touches to their second offering titled Sabhuku Vharazipi Part 2.
This came after the Masvingo-based group in June received an amount of $4 000 from the Culture Fund of Zimbabwe for the production of another comic DVD.
The Sabhuku Vharazipi drama took the film industry by storm with the main actor David Mubaiwa, who acts as Vharazipi being a favourite to many.
David Mubaiwa confirmed that Ziya is working on another DVD, but refused to give more information saying he wants to avoid piracy.
“It is true that something is coming up sometime soon, but I cannot give the date when the DVD will be out because of piracy.
“Remember we did not yield anything form our first act and we need to capitalise on this one.
“What I can say is that we are putting final touches to Sabhuku Vharazipi Part 2 and this drama is better than the previous one,” he said.
Sabhuku Vharazipi went viral early this year with the hilarious drama winning the hearts of many.
The DVD was sold on the streets of South Africa, Botswana and Mozambique.
The drama tells of Vharazipi, a corrupt headman who manipulates the distribution of food and other inputs in his area, to get whatever he wants, including women.
The headman abuses his position to seek sexual favours from the women in the village as well as gaining political mileage.
The play touches on a number of societal issues among them corruption, hunger, headman’s position in the village and simplicity of village life.
