No pay for Hwange players

HWANGE Football Club have reportedly failed to pay salaries for some of their players since March.

Report by Sukoluhle Mthethwa

A senior player who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that they are not getting their salaries.

“I have not received my salary since March and I am not the only one. The company is said not to be doing well.

“We are afraid to complain for fear of being fired. We are also told that the company is failing to pay most of its workers as well. To make it worse, we are not told when we will be paid. The situation has also affected our performance,” he said.

Hwange have struggled in the premiership this season.

The Nation Dube-coached side is on position 13 with 18 points from 18 games with only four wins, six draws and eight defeats.

Contacted for comment, Hwange chairperson Joseph Hove confirmed the development.

“Most of the players have been receiving their salaries in time as well as winning bonuses, but we owe some players signing on fees. It depends on the grades of the players because you find that even senior company workers are owed salaries.

“We are up to date with junior players, but we owe senior players salaries for the month of July.”

Despite finishing fourth in the premiership in 2011, Hwange found the going tough in the league and had to fight relegation to survive last season.
