Robin Quaison scored a beauty to put AIK ahead on 49 minutes before United struck back though youngster Angelo Henriquez late on.

But special praise was reserved for Mutumba and United defender Nemanja Vidic, the duo declared Men of the Match after their solid display.

Mutumba, who has now represented Uganda on five occasions, ran the show for the better of the first half before he was replaced on 69 minutes.

He tormented United defender Rafael for better spells in the first period but the visitors goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard was on hand to save the situation.

Mutumba again picked the ball from deep before drilling a shot at the near post which Lindegaard did just well to push behind for a corner.

It was a performance Mutumba enjoyed and United defenders dreaded, dictating play and threading passes to his teammates. He was so impressed that he tweeted to his Ugandan fans at the end of the game; “Hope my people in Uganda enjoyed the game.”
