The 30-year-old who left Dynamos in 2010 to join Highfield United and later FC Platinum, put pen to paper on Thursday night.

He had just returned home from South Africa where he had unsuccessful trials with Absa Premiership side Pretoria University.

Reports yesterday suggested that Sadomba had paid Marere’s $6 000 signing-on fee for his latest move to Dynamos.

Marere spoke to NewsDay Sport on his move “back home.”

“I had a lengthy discussion with Sadomba over it and he told me it was only good for me to rejoin the club.

“He told me that if I fail to find a team outside the country the only local team I should join is Dynamos.

“But it was not a very difficult decision for me to make because Dynamos has always been my home,” Marere said.

“I trained with Dynamos after the expiry of my contract and before I left for South Africa for trials with Pretoria University I had spoken to Kalisto Pasuwa (Dynamos coach) that should I fail to make it I would come back.

“He promised to keep a slot open in the team and so when I came back there was no problem in joining the team. I am looking forward to playing well for the team and hopefully we will achieve a lot of things this season.”

On his trials with Pretoria University, home to Washington Arubi, Obadiah Tarumbwa and Tendai Tanyanyiwa who is the goalkeeper’s coach, Marere said: “I went with the team for their pre-season camp in Nelspruit and played in friendly matches against Platinum Stars and Orlando Pirates.

“I even scored a goal against Stars and I thought I had done enough to impress the technical team, but they kept on saying they still want to assess me further.

“Time was running out for me because I was afraid that Dynamos would fill in all their slots so I decided to come back.”

The local transfer window closes on Wednesday.

Sources yesterday said Dynamos were contemplating deregistering flop Francesco Zekumbawira to make room for new signings.

Former Caps United right-back Oscar Machapa is reportedly close to sealing a move to Dynamos and so is his former teammate Tafadzwa Rusike.

Milton Makopa has also fully recovered from his mysterious swelling on the sheens and has been re-registered.
