Madiro said he has decided to campaign for the party in order to avoid splitting votes.

He also urged those who filed as independent candidates after disappointment in the manner in which Zanu PF primaries were conducted, to reconsider their decisions.

“I made the decision that Zanu PF is bigger than individuals. Hence it is important that Zanu PF as a party goes into the elections united. If we are not united we risk dividing votes that are due to Zanu PF,” said Madiro in an interview yesterday.

“I realise those who are persecuting me have an agenda and by standing as an independent candidate I will be playing into their hands,” he added.

He urged Chris Chingosho and Dorothy Mabika, who are eyeing Headlands and Chipinge Central constituencies respectively as independents to review their decisions.
