Macheso, Winky D in comedy

-

ALICK Macheso and Winky D (real name Wallace Chirumiko) will become the latest musicians to feature on Mabla 10’s comedies.

Report by Winstone Antonio

The duo features on Bag Rabvaruka 3 after Sulumani Chimbetu and Peter Moyo had acted on Bag Rabvaruka 2 while Jah Prayzah appeared on Bag Rabvaruka 1 and 2.

Mabla 10 (real name Lloyd Kurima) told NewsDay the comedy was already in its final stages.

The comedian, who trebles as the writer, protagonist and executive producer, said he was glad to work with renowned artistes on what he termed a “must-watch drama”.

“We are almost done with the production of the forthcoming production which is a must-watch drama featuring Macheso and Winky D to add flavour to the project,” said Mabla 10.

He said he was inspired to take up the idea of engaging the artistes from their fans who also watched previous editions of the comedy.

The comedian said the project would explore various issues being experienced in the day-to-day lives of the people.

“There are several issues that affect people in society that will be explored in this coming project,” he said.

Although Winky D’s manager Jonathan Banda could not directly confirm the musician’s involvement, he said the musician’s camp always welcomed new ideas.

Macheso confirmed the developments and said this would be his second project in drama circles after appearing in yet another local drama called Fidelis.

Mabla 10 is fast becoming a household name in comedy circles and seems to be making sure that he stays in touch with his audience at Jah Prayzah’s shows where he uses he trademark animated voice.

Besides writing and directing the comedies, Mabla 10 has also starred in numerous street theatre and television productions and has featured in Jah Prayzah’s videos such as Sungano and Maria.

The former Glen View High 1 School student has released four productions, namely Bag Remhosva, Vamwe Vanhu and Bag Rabvaruka 1 and 2.
