A NEW showcase of some of Zimbabwe’s most talented fashion designers called The Mad Hatter’s Fashion Show that featured the work of talented designers, Alice Knuth and Colin Ratisayi was launched at the Book Café on Saturday.

The event, which is the brain child of Danish-Zimbabwean designer Alice Knuth was an electrifying mix of fashion, music, comedy and dance.
Although fashion was the highlight of the evening, performances by an array of renowned artistes who included Hope Masike, Edith WeUtonga, Sister Flame, Tariro neGitare, Ammara Brown, Umoja and comedians Carl Joshua Ncube and Doc Vikela among others created a magnificent atmosphere.
The organiser of the event Alice Knuth told NewsDay she was delighted by the success of the launch, which is an on-going quarterly project to showcase various local fashion designers throughout the year.
“This new initiative is the starting point as we will be hosting the event after every three months with different designers so as to showcase our talent in terms of designing. Each event will consist two or three designers, with a focus on one featured designer,” Knuth said.
Ratisayi showcased designs from his CZee-Rat label which is a collection of what he termed “The Sleeve Collection”, an assortment that focuses on sleeves.
This talented designer won best designer at Zimbabwe Fashion Week in 2011 and he got the chance to travel to Johannesburg to be a part of Africa Fashion Week.

Knuth and Ratisayi have both taken part in the Zimbabwe Fashion week and contributed to fashion shows at the Castle Tankard, OK Grand Challenge, the Spanish Embassy, International Women’s Day and Harare International Festival of the Arts.
Knuth launched her label Countess K in 2009 which has seen her fusing African java fabrics with a modern edge to create fun-filled, timeless looks.
She has dressed models at different pageants in the country as well as the Mbira Queen, Chiwoniso Maraire on most of her international tours.
