MAGUNJE — Aspiring Magunje Member of Parliament Godfrey Gandawa has made a passionate plea to losing Zanu PF primary candidates not to decampaign winning candidates and President Robert Mugabe, saying bhora musango (protest vote) cost the party in the 2008 elections.

Addressing thousands of Zanu PF supporters at Mudzimu business centre at the weekend, Gandawa said losing aspirants should swallow their pride and work together with the victors in order to annihilate the MDC-T.

The aspiring lawmaker warned of the 2008 bhora musango which saw Zanu PF supporters voting for their party’s council and parliamentary candidates, but voting for MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai in the presidential race.

“Bhora musango cost the party dearly in the 2008 elections. Primary elections have come and gone and the real fight against MDC is upon us. This time around we are saying let us unite and vote for the President

“Mugabe first, then the MP and councillor from Zanu PF so that we land the Presidency and have the majority in Parliament and councils,” said Gandawa.

“It does not make sense to have many Zanu PF councillors and MPs when we have a President from the opposition, this would be untenable,” said Gandawa, who was flanked by losing candidates in the Magunje primaries Max Jimu and Angela Nyenyai.

Gandawa, a businessman-cum-computer specialist, beat seven other candidates including top contender, empowerment lobbyist Keith Guzah and former Magunje MP Franco Ndambakuwa, who reportedly snubbed the event.
