The show comes after Vanso embarked on a revival path a few weeks ago that has seen him become a resident artist at the Hotel playing on Sundays.

The musician told NewsDay he had been waiting for a chance to play alongside an artiste like Jah Prayzah.

“I know I am still a small musician so I have been trying to woo the bigger artiste so that I can learn from them and they too from me,” said Vanso. It is for mutual benefit, but mainly it helps expose us to the bigger crowds that follow the big artiste.”

He said he is using the performances to fine-tune his yet-to-be-named forthcoming album due for release by year end.

Some of the tracks on the album include tracks like Rakagomara, Waramba Chikoro and Chirere all of which have already been played at live shows.

When Vanso joined the band wagon of musicians trying to fill in the Thomas Mapfumo gap a few years ago, he was taken to be yet another fly-by-night musician.

He has, however, remained steadfast to the sound, maintaining and upgrading it so much that today given the chance, he can easily be leading one of the most formidable bands.

His two previous albums, Toichuna and Nhambetambe did not get enough attention and of course people feel every musician who plays music that is similar to Mapfumo’s is a copycat. But that has not deterred him as the buoyant artiste has played his part.

He is one of the countable artiste who still use horn instruments, making his music unique on the local scene.

His combination with Jah Prayzah is, thus, one exciting affair for family show goers in Harare who will be particularly starved of entertainment with no major gigs lined up in the capital on the day.
