REPORT BY JAIROS SAUNYAMA

Acting Mashonaland East police provincial spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tendai Mwanza on Wednesday confirmed the incident where Mahwinei Lemon, who is married to 57-year-old Cecilia Marusero, allegedly murdered Farashishco Tizorai (82).

According to the police, on June 3 at around 1900hrs, it is alleged that Lemon went to Tizorai’s residence with the intention of locating his wife Marusero who had fled from home after a domestic dispute.

It is said that Lemon then accused Tizorai of providing a hiding place for his wife.

Tizorai, however, opened the door and left the accused to search for his wife, but could not locate her.

This did not go down well with Tizorai, who then started pushing Lemon away from his house.

This then prompted the accused to wrestle with Tizorai.

The accused then picked a wooden log and hit Tizorai several times.

Tizorai collapsed and neighbours alerted the police who attended the scene and ferried him to Marondera Hospital where he was transferred to Parirenyatwa Hospital in Harare and pronounced dead upon arrival.

“We appeal to the public to find amicable ways of solving disputes other than resorting to violence,” Mwanza said.
