Live above adversity

Opinion & Analysis
Many desire and pray for a better world; a world of peace without war, conflicts and civil strife.

Many desire and pray for a better world; a world of peace without war, conflicts and civil strife.

Sermon of the week with Pastor Erasmus Makarimayi

Although there are establishments and businesspeople that wish for, and instigate conflict, morally sound entrepreneurs wish for a world of peace. A conducive environment for business should be characterised by equity, peace and prosperity.

Kingdom intercessors are praying for a world that allows the spread of the Gospel of Christ without persecution.

Every right-minded person yearns for a world in which evil does not dominate good. In the earth realm unfavourable conditions exist in our space and you have to live in spite of the adversity. Don’t crumble under the load of adversity, but live above the crumbles of adversity.

Mankind desire a life wHere you don’t queue for basic things like identity documents and passports.

Many, if not everyone, would desire that in this age God grants them grace to taste a life with no sickness, no divorce, no price increase, no water cuts, no potholes and no power outages. While these can be eradicated, however, while they exist you should soldier on and live.

The tragedy is to park and wait for adversity to call the shots while you do nothing except aging. As you wait for the elections, let not your life wait. Be strategic and proactive.

Never waste time counting the challenges, but rather count the options available to overcome so that your name may be counted among the greats. Paradise is not found in this age and as the adversities of life persist, life has to go on victoriously.

God gave us life that has inherent power to subdue the earth. We were released in this world with grace commensurate with the resistance we face.

I don’t know for how long you want to stare at the challenges you are facing and meditate on them while bemoaning how unfortunate you are. Many people always want to advise God of the complications of their lives as if God was ignorant and is not conversant with the goings-on in their lives.

Don’t ever fool yourself that God needs up-to-date information from you. If the truth be told, it is you who needs up-to-date information from God concerning your situation. The psalmist says in Psalm 139:6-7, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?” You need to know that God knows. Whatever, whenever, however, whichever and wherever, God is aware of your case. Ask God to change your heart, mindset and attitude to your perception of the adversity you are facing.

Don’t waste your time wishing you were born in the last or next generation; you were born in this generation by divine will. You have the capacity to deal with issues of your time.

Be encouraged by the following words by Voltaire, “Life is thickly sown with thorns, and I know no other remedy than to pass quickly through them. The longer we dwell on our misfortunes, the greater is their power to harm us.

Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her: but once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game.”

Life is a choice, take the right course. However, tough your situation appears, it can be overcome. Use the model of St Francis of Assisi which states, “Start by doing what’s necessary, then do what’s possible, and suddenly… you are doing the impossible.” Sometimes we are so overwhelmed with the challenges of this world that we cannot think of solutions and we drown in the troubles.

Apostle Paul believes the love of God will see us through all adversity. He says in Romans 8:37, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” Jesus assures you of victory and He says in Matthew 28:18, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” No matter how high or deep your situation is; you can still live a life of peace and victory in Christ. Accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour and receive the power to ride high.

Whatever is happening against you, happen against it. Don’t worry about how busy the devil is; be worried about how lazy you are. Walk on the thorns of life, they will not hurt you and through the fire of life, it will not burn you up. Use the adversity to your advantage; it is part of the inputs for the venture of your life. Press on, you are going somewhere.
