Lira is slated to perform at 7Arts Theatre in Avondale, Harare on Friday. Her comments about the gig on her website and Facebook page reveal the diva is ecstatic about the gig and she encourages her Harare fans to brace for a historic show.

For the past two weeks, she has been regularly posting information about the show on her Facebook page.

Last Friday she wrote:  “Seven days before we rock Harare! 7 Arts Theatre, 7th June. Don’t miss it! Harare family (should) make good use of this opportunity. I’ll be performing. Be there.”

On May 27 she noted: “We invade Harare on 7th June at 7Arts Theatre. Looking forward to this performance in this part of Zimbabwe.

“Harare, Lira live in concert. 7th June. 7Arts Theatre. Don’t miss the gig,” was her post on May 22.

The previous day she had written: “Looking forward to performing in Zimbabwe again. Don’t miss this (show).”

Promoter of the gig Chris Musabayana said the musician’s management had assured him of a historic concert.

“They said they were happy with the response they got when they first visited the country two years ago and they fell in love with Zimbabwean fans at that debut show,” he said.

“They have told me they will come with a sharpened act because they now know the territory and are prepared to conquer it. They said Lira is upbeat about the return to Harare.”

Lira had her debut Harare gig at Borrowdale Racecource in 2011 when she performed with Cool Crooners, Dudu Manhenga, Victor Kunonga, Jazz Invitation and couple Selmor Mtukudzi and Tendai Manatsa.

On Friday she would share the stage with Chiwoniso Maraire, Alexio Kawara and Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana.

Kawara and Katomeni-Mbofana are likely to rekindle their combination born at this year’s Harare International Festival of the Arts while Maraire will be out to prove her mettle as an acclaimed international performer.
