AFTER stunning Bulawayo giants Highlanders 2-1 at Barbourfields Stadium on May 19, the tide changed for Castle Lager Premiership newcomers How Mine, losing three straight matches and they are hoping to collect maximum points against Triangle at Luveve today.

The gold miners coach Philani Mabhena says he is happy the two-week break has rejuvenated his charges.

“The break came at a good time. We were suffering from an element of fatigue and the boys got five days break and we resumed training last week. They have recovered from the minor knocks suffered during the last games before the break. We are grateful for the break and I am sure we are going to give the best account of ourselves tomorrow (today),” Mabhena said.

After edging Bosso on May 19, How Mine travelled to Harare where they lost 1-0 to Black Mambas on May 22 and were back at Emagumeni where they lost 0-1 to Chicken Inn on May 25.

Before the break, they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Shabanie Mine on June 2 at Maglas.

“The turf at Maglas is heavy and we had a lot of travelling in-between. We have a lot of respect for our counterparts Triangle, but we are hopeful we will do better,” Mabhena said.

How Mine acquired Premiership material in pre-season in the form of captain Herbert Dick, Gilbert Banda, Khumbulani Banda, Simon Njeleza, Timothy January and lethal striker Simbarashe Sithole.

They sit on position seven with 20 points on the log-table from six wins, two draws and five losses and only need 15 points to ensure another dance in top-flight action as they face off with champions Dynamos in Harare on Sunday after Triangle this afternoon.

Just before the break, the Gishon Ntini-coached Triangle beat army side Buffaloes 2-0 at Gibbo Stadium after going through a lean spell and need to pick up from there to steer away from the relegation zone.

The Lowveld side sit precariously on position four from the bottom on the standings with 12 points from 13 matches as they host Black Mambas at home on Sunday.

Some of the players at Triangle are Leo Kurauzvione, Limited Chikafa, William Mapfumo, Courage Denias, Blessing Chimwamuchere, Pardon Chinungwa and Nhamo Lameck.
