Organisers moved the event because there is maintenance work going on at the initial venue.

The festival director, Trust Mutekwa, confirmed the developments to NewsDay.

“Yes, I can confirm that we have changed the venue of this year’s edition of the Schools Special Arts Festival from Africa Unity Square, as initially stated, to Harare Gardens at the Band Shell stage, but the programme of the day remains the same,” said Mutekwa.

The event was supposed to have been held on June 8, but the organisers of the event claimed they made the decision to postpone it to today so as to ensure the festival is adequately marketed. The festival has a diverse programme of art categories that include music, drama, visual arts, fabrics, painting, sculpture and crafts.

Running under the theme, “Breaking Barriers”, the arts showcase seeks to promote the participation of children with disabilities in mainstream creative industry.
