MUSICIANS and music producers have expressed keen interest in working on a proposed theme song for the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO)general assembly to be co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Zambia in August.

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) this week announced it would finance a theme song for the event to the tune of $30 000.
ZTA head of public relations, events and protocol, Sugar Chagonda said there has been a massive response from musicians and producers following the announcement.
“As soon as we announced our project, there have been numerous calls to our offices as producers and musicians seek to take part in the initiative,” said Chagonda.
“The response has been overwhelming and we have told the aspirants that focus should not be on the attractive package on offer, but the passion to create good music that attracts international attention.”
He said the theme song should be able to live well beyond UNWTO assembly.
“The celebration through song and dance is set to go beyond the period of this event. This initiative will be a great opportunity to reach out and increase visibility of the country’s tourism, particularly marketing domestic tourism.”
