SERMON OF THE WEEK with Pastor Erasmus Makarimayi

There are situations that are not going to bow down by binding and casting them. Certain mountains and obstacles will not subside by merely confessing that you are victorious and that you are an overcomer while you are melting and trembling in fear in the corner of the room.

You have to pull your sleeves and socks and go for broke. Be aggressive and confront the situation and go through it unscathed. No matter how much the devil shouts and threatens you, remain bold and soldier on. The devil thrives on fear and lies. You will discover after the battle that it wasn’t that tough.

You may not necessarily throw all the mountains in your life into the sea. In life some mountains have to be climbed while others have to be dug through to make a super highway. After the agony of going through this painful experience, the beauty is that you will be strengthened, refreshed, promoted and ushered by God to higher dimensions of existence.

You will reap benefits from even areas that were not directly connected to the battle. You will be a natural candidate for the next move of God for the advancement of His Kingdom on earth. Haven’t you ever heard Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 25:29 where He says, “For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath?” The Message Bible is more explanatory here, it reads thus in Matthew 25:28-30, “Take the thousand and give it to the one who risked the most. And get rid of this “play-it-safe” who won’t go out on a limb. Throw him out into utter darkness.”

Through hard work, persistence and sheer action; you make it in life. Don’t be lazy, go out and confront and attack the enemy. Don’t be like the lazy person who the Bible describes in Proverbs 22:13 saying, “The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.” Go out and make history.

The lepers who got the breakthrough during the famine in Samaria decided enough was enough and risked their already bad life. 2 Kings 7:4 reads, “If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.” Maybe you don’t want to go out because of pride and you want to protect a non-existent image. What image and ego are you protecting at the backdrop of such poverty? Eat the humble pie and live.

I don’t know how terrible your situation is like, but I know that your God is a consuming fire and Jehovah Sabaoth, The Lord of hosts and a man of war. He is capable to change your situation. No matter how long you have been shedding tears of blood, there is an end to that season. Psalm 30:5 says, “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Whatever night you are going through, there is no night that is forever. Your crying has to come to an end then you will celebrate the training you have received through the tough and trying times. Carol Burnett concluded, “I have always grown from my problems and challenges, from the thing that don’t work out; that’s when I’ve really learned.”

You have to get to an understanding and revelation that you have to act. Don’t just watch your challenges as while you grow older. Act now! The older you grow the less energy and time available to fight and the more resistant and complicated the devil becomes.

Develop a conviction that the devil should not have an upper hand and final say in the matters concerning your life. Let something stir up in you that there has to be an end to mediocrity. Pay heed to the voice of greatness calling out to you.

Take hold of the hand of success that is stretched out to pull you out of a life of shame and obscurity. Let nothing and no one belittle you. Refuse to be intimidated. Don’t lower your expectations from God. Expect to make it in life. Have the guts to fight on. You are going somewhere.
